The fatal injuries of the first wife of the former US president raise questions
Ivana Trump, Donald Trump’s first wife and mother of his three oldest children, has died from blunt force trauma to her torso after an accidental fall, New York’s chief medical examiner said Friday.

As recalled by The Guardian, the former US president announced that Ivana Trump had died at the age of 73 a day earlier at her home in Manhattan, but did not give any details about the cause or nature of her death.

On Friday, a spokesman for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of New York confirmed reports that Ivana Trump appeared to have accidentally fallen and was found at the foot of the stairs of her home.

Falls are considered the leading cause of injury death among people aged 65 and older by U.S. health officials. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 64 out of 100,000 older adults die as a result of accidental falls.

Ivana Trump was born in Zlin (now the Czech Republic) in 1949. She was a skier, ski instructor and model before marrying Donald Trump in 1977 when he was a real estate mogul. She partnered with Trump in running casinos and hotels, helping him become a Manhattan and global socialite throughout the 1980s. She also became the mother of his children Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric.

The couple divorced in 1992 when Donald Trump’s infidelity precipitated their split. He later married and divorced Marla Maples, with whom he had a daughter, Tiffany, and now lives with his third wife, Slovenian Melania, mother of his son Barron and America’s first lady during his presidency from 2017 to 2021.

Ivana Trump has said she supports her ex-husband’s run for the White House but said she wants “all of this to end” after Donald Trump lost to Joe Biden and has been desperate to overturn the result, including calling on her supporters to “fight like hell” shortly before hundreds of them launched a deadly attack on the Capitol in Washington.

The billionaire’s ex-wife claimed that she thought her children “loved being around Donald and running and seeing what would happen,” but she wished that one day they “could live their normal lives.”

On Thursday afternoon, rescuers who arrived on a call from Ivana Trump’s home on the Upper East Side of Manhattan found the elderly woman unconscious. They pronounced her dead on the spot and noted that “no crime was committed,” the police said in a statement.

Trump, Donald Jr. and Ivanka were due to be questioned Friday as part of a New York civil investigation into their business dealings. But the Attorney General of the State of New York postponed the testimony in connection with the death of Ivana Trump. New testimonial dates were not immediately set. A statement from a state official said: “We send our condolences to the Trump family.”
